In their first meeting last May, both clubs netted two goals as the match ended in a draw.

Now, the Revs are looking to keep an unbeaten record, which has been extended to five matches and a three-match winning streak following a 1–0 victory over the Philadelphia Union in their previous MLS match last Saturday.

Before beating Philadelphia, New England had a 1–0 win over New York City FC (NYC FC), a 2–2 draw against the Chicago Fire, and two more victories facing Toronto FC (3–1) and Houston Dynamo (2–0).

In their match against the Union, midfielder Diego Fagúndez scored the lone goal for his 25th of the regular season, which makes him the youngest to do so in the MLS at 20 years and 196 days, according to the league's website.

MLS.com also reported that before Fagúndez, the retired Eddie Gaven was the youngest player to score 25 goals in a regular season at 20 years and 353 days.

The Revs are currently on the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference with 37 points and a 10–9–7 record.

They are eight points ahead of the final playoff spot being held by Orlando City who currently have 29 points.

The Lions mustered a 1–1 draw with Chicago last Saturday, which gave them a point to climb to the sixth spot. Before that, they were in a triple-tie with the Montreal Impact and NYC FC with 28 points.

Orlando City are looking for a win against New England since they are currently winless in their past five MLS matches including Saturday's draw against the Fire.

The last time the Lions experienced a win in the MLS was when they defeated Columbus Crew SC 5–2 on Aug. 1.
