'Five Nights At Freddy's 4' rumors: new teaser hints at prequel

Game developer Scott Cawthon has released a new teaser image for "Five Nights at Freddy's 4." It might be the trickiest one to date, but eagle-eyed fans are up for the challenge of cracking it. According to sleuths from Reddit, this image strongly hints that the new installment is a prequel.

On the right hand corner of the image, there is a set of hardly discernable text that reads "property of Fr---er," with the missing text believed to be Fredbear's Family Diner. The location was barely touched on in the previous installments in the video game series and was only briefly sighted.

The place, as seasoned fans of the horror survival franchise discovered in "Five Nights at Freddy 2," was the first ever restaurant opened by Fazbear Entertainment. It also served as the very site where murders of children took place, which, in turn, jumpstarted Cawthon's scare fest.

Another subtle clue from the new "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" image is what lies beneath Freddy's trademark hat and bow. A reflection of a certain character is just about visible but, looking closely, one will spot the eyes, nose and set of big, sharp teeth, which have many thinking this could be Nightmare Freddy.

The clues the latest image give fans simply strengthens the theory that "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" will hurl gamers back to the past to show them and let them discover how singing animatronics became children's worst nightmare.

Previous teasers ask the question, "Was it me," which is accompanied by Freddy's image and "or me," which is conspicuously plastered on a photo of Nightmare Foxy that had fans believing that the game will further delve into the Bite of '87.

"Five Nights at Freddy's 4" is shaping up to be another nightmarish title. Unfortunately, it is also believed to be the final installment in the well-loved franchise. It will be released on Halloween so there should be more haunting details and hints from Cawthon in the coming months.
