Fox's comedy series 'New Girl' is finally saying goodbye after seven seasons.

During the winter Television Critics Association press tour this week, stars Zooey Deschanel, Hannah Simone, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris all joined creator Liz Meriwether and the rest of the production team to spill some new details about the upcoming final season of the show.

Meriwether was particularly excited, as the seventh season was mostly a "touch and go" for the team until she successfully had Fox agree to do another last and final season. "I'm so passionate about this show; it's been my life for seven years," Meriwether said.

"I do feel really good about the end of Season 6, but I really wanted the chance to say goodbye to the show with a final season."

Season 6 wrapped off with Jess (Zooey Deschanel) finally admitting (yet again) her feelings to Nick (Jake Johnson); Cece (Hannah Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) learned they were pregnant, and Winston (Lamorne Morris) got engaged with girlfriend Aly (Nasim Pedrad).

According to Meriwether, season seven will mostly see all these characters now grown-up, compared to the clueless bunch of roommates fans first saw in the first season.

The final season will commence in a three-year time jump, with Nick and Jess had just finished Nick's European Book Tour and are thinking of getting married or not; Aly and Winston will be married and expecting their first child; while Cece and Schmidt become parents to a three-year-old daughter Ruth.

The final season will also see some of the series' recurring characters, including Damon Wayans Jr., Dermot Mulroney, David Walton, Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Reiner.

Simone also hinted on a pretty big twist in the final season premiere. Apparently, there would be a looming death for one of the show's beloved main characters, which will be "pretty heartbreaking for all of them," Simone said.

"New Girl" season seven will premiere on Tuesday, April 10, 9:30 p.m. EST on Fox.
