New Macbook Pro 2013 with Retina display ships today: Specs and price info

Apple finally unveiled its new line of Macbook Pro laptops at its event today.

The new Macbook Pro will pack a retina-display and as expected, come with the 4th generation Intel Haswell processor, which is featured in the Macbook Air and iMacs released earlier this year.

Apple launched new thinner models both with 13 and 15 inch displays. The price tag has also been slashed significantly for a retina-display laptop. The basic 13-inch model starts at only $1299. It is only .71 inch thick, and lighter than 3 pounds. It features a 2.4 GHz Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM and128 GBSSD.

The base model for the 15-inch starts at $1999 and features a quad-core i7, 8GB RAM, and 256 SSD. Both models start shipping today.

The battery life of the new Macbooks lasts up to 9 hours running on the new OS X Mavericks. The company dropped the optical drive for its new line of Macbook Pro laptops, reminiscent of the new revamped iMacs that were launched last year.
