New single from Dweeb is more than ok

You’ve got to love Dweeb. You’ve got to love their twitch and their day-glo joy, their amped-up energy levels and their sky-high optimism.

And you’ve got to admit that their tunes are pretty sweet too. Want proof? Just take out 2 minutes 35 seconds to get pressure treated by their latest single, ‘It’s OK’.

It’s more than OK.

With all the force of a thousand tour bus hours the band pulse their way through the song that leaves the listener fully improved by what must be at least 100 repetitions of the title phrase.

They rip into the song – and the video - with all the energy and integrity that must have attracted the producers of the BBC documentary ‘Singing With The Enemy’ back in 2008. It was then that the band had to move in with a XXX rated punk band, write a song and not end up looking either like fools/cult members or nice-but-irrelevant weaklings. Dweeb more than passed the test back then and they’re still coming up with full marks today.

The song, like so much of Dweeb’s material, leaves the listener with something buzzing. That’ll be the post-pop-punk sounds, but it’s down to the questions that the band are skilled at leaving in the listener’s ears. What do they mean by ‘it’s ok when we’re together’? Is ‘together’ on the menu for me? Could I have some of that?

‘It’s OK’ is the debut single release from their forthcoming album, Feels Like Dynamite – out on Fierce! on 10 May. Produced by David Lynch (Duke Special) and Mark Underdown this follow-up to their acclaimed ‘It Came From Outer Space’ comes ready-mixed for maximum flavour.

Having opened for big hitters like Delirious? and Enter Shikari and having headlined more than their fair share of upscale popular festivals overseas, there’s more than enough evidence to suggest that this year is going to be a very, very OK one.
