Warner Bros. Pictures has just announced that it is working on a live-action "Teen Titans" series, which will begin airing in 2018.

Titled "Titans," the series will air on cable network TNT. According to the synopsis released by the production company, the story will follow a group of young superheroes in the making. The team will be led by Dick Grayson, who served as Batman's Boy Wonder, Robin. He will also take on the identity of Nightwing at some point in the series.

Also included in the lineup are Starfire and Raven. It is unclear if Beast Boy or Cyborg, who were part of the team in the "Teen Titans" and "Teen Titans Go!" will also be included. However, the former is likely to be included if the Twitter post by DC President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns is any indication. But Den of Geek reported that Barbara Gordon, Hawk, and Dove, characters who are not normally associated with the Teen Titans, will also be part of the series.

No word has been given regarding the casting of these characters. However, rumor has it that Steven R. McQueen might play Dick Grayson.

Akiva Goldsman will serve as the series scriptwriter, alongside Johns and Greg Berlanti, who is also involved in "Supergirl" and "The Flash." All three, along with Sarah Schechter, will serve as the executive producers.

"Titans" will join the likes of "Arrow," "Super Girl," "The Flash," "Legends of Tomorrow," and "Powerless," all of which are based on DC Comics characters, on TV. However, no word has been given if the new series will be set in the same universe as the other shows. But given that "Titans" will air on a different network, it is improbable that viewers will be seeing the characters crossing over to another DC television series.

Back in 2014, it was rumored that TNT will air "Titans." However, network president Kevin Reilly announced during the Television Critics Association winter press tour in 2016 that the project was no longer in development. No reason was given for their choosing to cancel the discontinuation of this project. Nonetheless, the decision to push through with "Titans" made a lot of fans happy.

The actual air date of the series is still unannounced.
