A new TV spot trailer for "Terminator Genisys" was recently made available on major streaming sites such as YouTube. The new trailer reveals a few action scenes and features a better look at actor J.K. Simmons as Detective O'Brien.

Following Simmons' Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor in "Whiplash," it comes as no surprise that the new trailer would put a lot more focus on his character.

In the trailer, he interrogates Sarah Connor, played by "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke, similar to how Dr. Peter Silberman interrogated Kyle Reese in the first "Terminator" film. The scene depicts him questioning Sarah about the future war and apocalypse.

A lot of scenes also indicate that a good portion of the film will take place in the future. This may lend more credibility to the rumor previously cited by International Business Times that Kyle may turn out to be the film's villain.

The trailer briefly shows the film's main antagonist, a Terminator similar to both the T-1000 and Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800. Website io9 explains that it could be a "T-950," given that a Terminator T-900 was featured in "Terminator 3."

"Terminator Genisys" intends to turn the franchise's plot on its head by re-working the series' timeline. The film is just the beginning of a new trilogy of films that would spring from the new timeline. In many ways this would be similar to what the 2009 "Star Trek" did by re-writing the series' chronology. Schwarzenegger already confirmed that he would be coming back for "Terminator 6."

"Terminator Genisys" will be shown on July 1, while the planned sequels are expected to be released on May 19, 2017 and June 29, 2018.
