The New York Jets completed their second cut Saturday to have a 53-man roster and the notable players who were unable to make it are quarterbacks Matt Flynn and Josh Johnson as well as linebacker Jason Babin. 

Flynn and Johnson were signed by the Jets because of the team's issue at the quarterback position after original starter Geno Smith had a locker room altercation last month with former teammate defensive end IK Enemkpali. 

Smith was punched by Enemkpali, who was immediately released following the incident, because of a $600 plane ticket and suffered a broken jaw which required surgery that will make him miss the first few games of the 2015 season. 

In a report by ESPN, Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan said Smith is expected to miss their first four games. 

The release of Flynn and Johnson left the Jets with only quarterbacks Ryan Fitzpatrick and rookie Bryce Petty.

Fitzpatrick, who played in 12 games for the Houston Texans last season, is expected to be the starter in Smith's absence.

The 32-year-old who had 197 completions for 2,483 yards and 17 touchdowns last season joined the Jets via a trade deal last March.  

ESPN also said in their report that if Fitzpatrick gets injured with Smith still out, they would be signing a veteran, who will likely be Flynn or Johnson. 

Along with the release of the quarterbacks, two-time Pro Bowler Babin was also cut by the Jets after just one season. 

Babin, at 35 years old, was the oldest player in the Jets roster before the second cut and was seen as a backup.

But according to ESPN, the team decided to stick with younger linebackers rookie Lorenzo Mauldin (22 years old) and Trevor Reilly (27 years old). 

The Jets ended their 2015 preseason with a 3–1 record and they will begin their new campaign on Sept. 13 hosting the Cleveland Browns at the MetLife Stadium.
