The New York Knicks may have another point guard as the rebuilding franchise is reportedly interested in Minnesota Timberwolves and Spain playmaker Ricky Rubio. 

Rubio just signed a four-year extension deal with Minnesota in November last year; but according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, the Timberwolves are getting impatient with the 24-year-old point guard's contributions since they drafted him in 2009 and suggested that the team might trade him before the winter deadline. 

Washburn said the determining factor if Rubio will stay with the Timberwolves is the performance of 2015 first-round pick point guard Tyus Jones who had an impressive showing for the team during his Summer League stint. 

According to Gigantes del Basket, New York is targeting Rubio since team president Phil Jackson is not comfortable with the current point guards he has in his team. 

As of the moment, the Knicks have veteran José Calderón, second year player Langston Galloway and rookie Jerian Grant as their point guards. 

Calderon is a tested veteran; but his numbers dropped last season and was plagued by an Achilles injury which limited him to only 42 games. 

Meanwhile Galloway and Grant are quality point guards but are still young and needs more experience to be the main guys at the position for the Knicks. 

The addition of Rubio will be huge for the franchise as he is a perfect combination of experience and youth; but it will be a gamble since the Spaniard has also suffered major injuries in his young NBA career. 

Rubio played only 22 games last season due to an ankle injury, although he averaged 10.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per outing. 

The Knicks already had key additions this offseason, including 2015 no. 4 overall pick Kristaps Porzingis, centers Robin Lopez, Kyle O'Quinn and Kevin Seraphin, forward Derrick Williams, and guards Arron Afflalo and Sasha Vujačić.
