New York Knicks trade news 2015: Interest in Norris Cole as well?

The New York Knicks have recently added Kevin Seraphin to their roster and from the looks of it, Phil Jackson is not yet done.

While Carlos Boozer may still be in the running, it looks like the Knicks are looking to add another guard in the mix with reports that the club is interested in signing Norris Cole.

Cole is currently a restricted free agent with the New Orleans Pelicans and the thing is that the Pelicans can easily match any offer made on the 26-year-old guard.

Also, the Knicks are not the only team who are interested in the 6-foot-2 guard with reports that the Philadelphia 76ers are also seriously considering the Pelicans point guard.

Cole was part of the Miami Heat that won the NBA title twice (2012 and 2013) and saw heavy minutes when he was still in South Beach.

The interesting part is why the Knicks are showing interest in Cole. To date, they already have Jose Calderon, Langston Galloway and Jerian Grant at point guard which brings up a lot of questions why head coach Derek Fisher would need another guard in the mix.

Of course, Cole does have the championship experience to show. He played close to 20 minutes in Miami and seeing that only Calderon is perhaps the guard with experience in the current roster, Cole could be an asset as well.

But again, all this can only be made possible if the Pelicans opt not to match any offer thrown at Cole. Hence, the Knicks or the Sixers will have to pray that the Pelicans find the numbers unreasonable before they can actually land the 28th pick of the 2011 NBA Draft in their respective rosters.

Cole's numbers showed remarkable improvement when he came to New Orleans. From 7.6 points and 3.4 assists in the regular season, Cole jacked up his point production to 9.9 points with the Pelicans.

Cole landed in New Orleans as part of a three-team trade involving the Miami Heat and the Phoenix Suns that took place on February 19, 2015.
