New York Knicks rumors: Carmelo Anthony could be out for the season

The New York Knicks woes may have suffered the biggest black eye of them all after rumors have been circulating that star Carmelo Anthony could be done for the season.

Anthony, who was the eye of many thing before the 2014-15 season started, has been having issues with his knees. Making it worse was the fact that Anthony could require a season-ending knee surgery that could mean that the Knick may end up the season without the sweet-shooting forward.

"From the conversations I've been a part of, I think everybody is smart enough to realize, calendar wise, timing wise, that there may come a point that that's the decision that needs to be made," Fisher said Friday via ESPN. "But [we realize] that we can't force Carmelo to that point just yet."

The Knicks currently hold a 5-30 record, a dismal standing despite the offseason assignment of Phil Jackson and head coach Derek Fisher. While things seemed to look up prior to the start of the season, the Knicks have so far floundered. And with Anthony possibly out, the outlook at least for the remainder of the current season looks pretty bleak.

The Knicks are also in a same predicament that the Cleveland Cavaliers are in, dealing with injuries. Key players like Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith, Andrea Bargnani Ama're Stoudemare and Jose Calderon have hampered the Knicks from getting any headway and the man taking all the heat right now are Fisher and Jackson

Jackson as appealed for patience while D-Fish has been defended by Melo himself. Melo says that if it were any other guy/coach, the Knicks may have been in a worse situation.

Sitting Anthony for the rest of the season could be a logical choice, especially given their current standing. While many will have a hard time accepting this, the best way to look at it is in the future – with a healthier Carmelo Anthony at the helm.
