Labeled as the biggest free agent following the season, Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant is linked to a number of teams and one of the possible destination for him is the New York Knicks.

According to The Inquisitr, the Knicks are the latest team looking to sign Durant when free agency hits.

The Knicks are playing better this season, already suprassing their win tally last season which only stood at 17.

But still, they are not doing enough to be on top and are currently 10th in the Eastern Conference standings with a 22–24 record.

As the improvement continues for the franchise, the New York Daily News reported that the Knicks' future can be used to lure a star searching for a championship, like Durant.

If Durant signs with New York, he will be joining veteran All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony and thriving rookie big man Kristaps Porzingis as the faces of the franchise.

The emergence of Porzingis this season is one of the reasons why many believe the Knicks have a bright future.

Porzingis can shoot from anywhere on the floor and is a presence in the paint, currently he is also one of the leaders in the race for the Rookie of the Year award along with the Minnesota Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns.

But if the Knicks want to acquire Durant, they have to address their limited cap space ($19 million), with the Thunder star having a lucrative deal.

The Inquisitr suggested that the Knicks must waive or trade players to solve the issue with their cap space and do everything to get Durant, who rarely becomes available in the free agency market.

Durant is currently not one of the names being mentioned in Most Valuable Player (MVP) talks, but he is playing great this season averaging 26.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, one steal, and 1.2 blocks in 35.7 minutes played per game.
