The New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals contested an epic World Series 2015 Game 1 on Tuesday night - the longest Game 1 in the history of the World Series. Just hours later they once again must come out to fight it out in Game 2 on Wednesday night in what already looks like a classic series. Game 2 between the Mets and Royals has a scheduled start time of 8 p.m. ET and takes place again from Kauffman Stadium. Game 2 will see Jacob deGrom and Johnny Cueto take to the mound, and following the drama of Tuesday's Game 1 fans will be expecting further fireworks.

The Royals went 1-0 up in the best of seven series on Tuesday with a thrilling 5-4 victory in the 14th inning - a game that lasted an extraordinary five hours, nine minutes.

If the series opener has shown us anything, it is that we can expect an immense battle, and that's something that the players are now expecting too.

Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson said, "It's going to be a dogfight. Those guys over there are not going to give up, and we're not going to give up over here. May the best team win."

Neither team were willing to give an inch in Game 1, and for good reason! In 16 of the last 18 World Series, the eventual winners won the opener. That bodes well for the Royals, although the Mets are a team that has become used to defying limitations and exceeding expectations put on them.

Whether fatigue will prove a factor in this series after Tuesday's epic battle remains to be seen, but both teams were forced to use various pitchers for much longer than they will have hoped.

The Royals were scheduled to use Chris Young as starter for Game 4, but he was used for 53 relief pitches on Tuesday night - three innings in total. He does have time to recover but being used so much from the outset is less than ideal for Kansas City.

The Mets meanwhile were forced to use Jon Niese for two innings, and Bartolo Colon for 2 1/3 inning, meaning their relief options for the upcoming games will have been affected somewhat.
