The continuing success of the new Nexus lineups has given fans the impression that Google might be thinking of refreshing the series with new product iterations this year, again partnering with top tech manufacturers for new Nexus flagships.

According to speculations, Huawei and HTC are emerging as strong contenders as makers of the upcoming lineups.

Yibada reported that Huawei might once again partner with Google for a new Nexus product. According to the industry follower, the China-based company's success with the Nexus 6P seems to be a strong indication that there will be new iterations between Huawei and Google. Even if rumors point out that the new Nexus smartphones will be made by HTC, Huawei is speculated to still be a top candidate to be a Nexus maker, this time for a refreshed and improved Nexus 7 tablet.

KnowYourMobile reported that in the reboot of the Nexus 7, Huawei and Google are thinking of doing a 180-degree in terms of its target market. Previous Nexus 7 iterations were budget-friendly tablets with competitive specs. The industry follower said that Huawei's build will reportedly place the new Nexus 7 with mid-level to premium specs, and will be priced accordingly.

As for the new Nexus smartphone lineups, it is rumored that HTC is the top choice for new iterations. Should this be proven true, this will not be the first time for HTC, which already partnered with Google in previous Nexus iterations.

According to Droid-Life, the two new HTC Nexus devices will have 5- and 5.5-inch displays, and if the current-gen Nexus will be an indication, the two upcoming Nexus phones will also be mid-range ones. The industry observer added that rumor has it that Google is already working on the follow-up to Android M, and this new environment will reportedly run on the new Nexus products.
