Nexus 5 2015 to be developed by LG?

It seems that Korea-based tech giant LG will be making the second-generation Nexus 5.

In an exclusive captured by tech industry observer Android Pit, the company is considering making the 2015 Nexus 5. According to the site's insiders, LG is deliberating on the matter..

"It is under consideration at LG," the unnamed source had said.

If the news is accurate, then it puts to rest speculations that several companies are making an end run for the next Nexus 5 phone. It was in previous reports that Google has been talking with both LG and Huawei – another Google OEM partner – about coming up with the next Nexus device. The rumor mill has been leaning toward Huawei, as observers have been burned last year when it was reported that LG will be making a Nexus device, which turned out to be Motorola's Nexus 6.

Last year, instead of being an OEM partner to other tech giants like Google, Korea-based LG focused on developing its own flagship products. It released note-worthy line-ups such as the LG G3. Further emphasis was placed on having their own brand developed into worthy successors such as the LG G Flex 2 and the recently-released LG G4.

When reached for a comment, a Google spokesperson said that the company will "not comment on rumors or speculations".

Another angle that pundits are looking into is that Google is looking into releasing two new devices under the Nexus label. If that is indeed the case, then the reports that both Huawei and LG are being considered as OEMs have merit.

It was reported that Huawei will be developing a phablet with a 5.7-inch display, much smaller than the Nexus 6. LG, on the other hand, will be coming up with a next-gen smartphone with a 5.2-inch display.
