Nexus 5 2015 vs Nexus 6 specs: Features comparison between rumored handset

The Nexus 5. How will its rumored sucessor compare with that of the current Nexus flagship, the Nexus 6?Wikipedia

It has already been reported that this year, there will be another Nexus 5 to be released. However, Google remains mum on the issue, and observers cannot precisely tell when the second-gen Nexus 5 will be released.

If there would indeed be a new Nexus device to come out this year, how would it fare against the current Nexus smartphone flagship, the Nexus 6?

Display

One of the many factors that consumers check on their next smartphones is the display, and in terms of screen, the 2015 Nexus 5 will be slightly smaller than the Nexus 6. The current Nexus smartphone has a 5.96-inch display, while the new Nexus 5 is said to be sporting a 5.3-inch OLED display with 1440 x 2560 resolution.

Processor

Under the hood, the second-gen Nexus 5, being the newer one, is said to be more powerful than its cousin. While the Nexus 6 is powered by a quad-core 2.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, the new Nexus 5 will be faster with a new Snapdragon 810 chipset. However, it is unclear if the processor will be a new SoC batch, since there are reported issues of overheating connected with the 810 chipsets.

Features

Much like the two variants of Nexus 6 in terms of storage, the new Nexus 5 will also come out in 32 GB and 64 GB models, and both will be expandable for up to 128 GB via microSD.

In terms of cameras, the new Nexus 5 will sport a more powerful 16 MP main shooter than the Nexus 6's 13 MP back camera. The front cam will be better, too, with an 8 MP selfie cam as opposed to the current 2 MP secondary cam on the Nexus 6.

Will the new Nexus 5 last longer than its cousin? Depending on the apps and performance, it might. However, the numbers indicate that the Nexus 6 has slightly more power, with a 3,220 mAh battery against the Nexus 5's reported 3,000 mAh one.
