Bargain hunters looking for a great deal on their next purchase may have to look no further than Amazon or eBay.

Both of the online retailers are now offering heavily discounted Nexus 6 phones. It's worth noting that these are not the Nexus 6 phones that have been widely talked about in the tech industry the past few months. Instead, these are the models released last year.

Right now, people can purchase the phone for just $349 on Amazon or a carrier-unlocked variant of the Nexus 6 on eBay for the even lower price of just $299, according to CNet. Given the prices of the phones, it's not guaranteed that they'll be hanging around for a long time in either retailer's store, so people looking to buy one should do so as soon as possible.

Aside from the great deal they're getting on the price, it's also likely that people will be purchasing a quality phone if they choose to take up the offers. The phones will most likely be receiving the new Android Marshmallow operating system (OS) soon and they should be fairly well updated for at least two more years, according to Android Police.

There is no official reason for why the 2014 version of the Nexus 6 phones are currently being offered at those low prices, but it most likely ties back to the fact that Google is gearing up to hold a launch event for their new Nexus models next week.

According to the International Business Times, Google is expected to launch both the 2015 Nexus 5X made by LG as well as the 2015 Nexus 6P manufactured by Huawei at the event. The latter model is seen as the one that will be taking the place of last year's Nexus 6 phone that is heavily discounted now.

The two new phones primed to be launched on Sept. 29 are also expected to feature the Android Marshmallow OS right out of the box.
