Google Nexus 6 received a discount from US carrier T-Mobile as it slashed $48 off the handset. Consumers wanting to grab the handset can use the coupon code NEXUS6DEAL.

The discount can be used to purchase the 32 and 64 GB versions of the Midnight Blue variant of Nexus 6. It brings the Nexus 6 price down to $601 for the 32 GB model and $651 for the 64 GB variants. This is not the biggest discount we saw on the handset. However, a price cut for the device is pretty rare since the handset was only released in October 2014.

Moreover, Google Nexus 6 is a smartphone that is hard to come by as the handset has been missing in action in Google Play Store, especially the 64 GB version. Android Central reported that Google Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette confirmed the scarce supply of the handset. However, he did not specify the difficulties being encountered by the company in producing the handset.

"While the Nexus 6 was very well received as a new phone, we had real issues and were unable to secure sufficient inventory to meet the demand that we had forecasted," Pichette said.

Thus, T-Mobile's offer can be a perfect opportunity for consumers to grab the handset. However, T-Mobile is offering a much better discount as buyers can get the smartphone without an upfront price, but subscribers must be willing to pay $27 per month for two years.

Google Nexus 6 was released in October and comes with the following specs and features: 6-inch screen display with Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution, quad core Snapdragon 805 SoC clocked at 2.7 GHz, Adreno 420 GPU, 3 GB of RAM, 13 MP rear camera, and 3220 mAh battery. The smartphone is available in 32 GB and 64 GB internal storage variants and runs with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS that can be updated to Android 5.0.1. It is predicted that the handset will also receive the major Android 5.1 update coming in February.
