It is rumored that Google and Huawei have teamed up to re-create the Nexus 7 tablet. Now, it is also speculated that the alleged tablet will be released with a new operating system, the Andromeda OS, which could be unveiled on Oct. 4.

9To5Google reports that the Nexus 7 2016 is said to have the new OS which is rumored to be a hybrid of Android and Chrome OS instead of Android 7.0 Nougat. Not much is really known about the new OS, but it could just be a code name of an internal project by Google. It is still too early to tell if this will be released to the public or if it will simply remain within the walls of the company.

Several weeks ago, the famous leaker, Evan Blass, posted that the "Huawei-built 7-inch tablet, with 4GB RAM, on track for release before the end of the year," and this remains as the only leak about the next-generation Nexus 7. Other hardware specifications remain as speculations, including the said use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, a Full HD resolution display, and a 13-megapixel main camera.

It is also speculated that the Nexus branding will be discontinued by Google. The apparent Nexus 7 2016 tablet will become the Pixel 7 tablet, while the alleged Nexus 2016 phones are said to be called Pixel X and Pixel XL. The new products will then be aligned with the laptop and tablet that the company released a few years ago.

Speaking of the Pixel laptop, the search engine giant is also rumored to unveil a convertible laptop called Pixel 3, which will also be loaded with the Andromeda OS. The new laptop is reportedly powered by either an Intel M3 or an i5 Core processor paired with either 8 or 16 GB of RAM. It is also said that it will have 32 or 128 GB of internal storage. It is speculated to have two screen sizes — one of which will be a 12.3-inch display, according to Android Police.

The Nexus 7 2016 or the Pixel 7 is said to be unveiled during the media event on Oct. 4, which will take place at 9:00 a.m. PDT.
