This year is filled with buzz about the latest Nexus 7 (2016) to be released by Google, and rumors abound. According to speculations, it's expected that this device will be unveiled at the Google I/O conference, which is set to happen from May 18 to May 22.

It's expected to be revealed during the first day of the event, but while there aren't any official statements from the company, some clues that point to the device's release can be gleaned from other developments. First and foremost is the upcoming software from Android, Android N. This operating system is said to be almost complete. As such, a lot of people assume that the Nexus 7 (2016) will be released in tandem with this operating system.

Another clue points to the fact that the 2014 Nexus 9 tablet was pulled off the Google Store. It might not be a strong point, but this might be a sign that they are paving the way for their newest Nexus 7.

As for its projected specs and features, the Nexus 7 (2016) will have 4GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 820 chipset. Furthermore, it will have a 7-inch screen that will most likely support up to a Quad HD resolution. As for external storage, it might be able to support up to a maximum of 2TB microSD storage. Its other features are a pressure-sensitive display since its Android N will support something similar to the 3D Touch-like capabilities on the latest iPhones. Lastly, some speculate that the device might also be powered by Nvidia Tegra X1 processor.

According to a report from Know Your Mobile, Huawei is expected to make the newest member of the Nexus family. Regardless of these rumors, all the fans of this device will need to keep their fingers crossed for the time being, until an official announcement has been made.
