The 2015 season of the National Football League (NFL) is just around the corner and to begin the new year, the defending Super Bowl Champions New England Patriots will kickoff their title defense hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers.

New England will face the Steelers on Thursday, Sept. 10, with the matchup being the only game to be played on that day.

The Pats faced a number of issues off the field during the offseason regarding the Deflategate scandal; but now, they are ready for their quest to win back-to-back Super Bowls and will be led by star quarterback Tom Brady.

NFL action will continue on Sunday, Sept. 13, as 26 teams start their 2015 campaign.

Notable games that will be played on the said day include the Seattle Seahawks taking on the St. Louis Rams.

The Seahawks, who prioritized the signing of their key players in the offseason, are looking to make it to their third consecutive Super Bowl and their journey begins against the Rams on Sunday.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will also open the 2015 season taking on the Chicago Bears.

The Packers' response to the loss of leading wide receiver Jordy Nelson will be seen for the first time against Chicago. Nelson was ruled out for the entire season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) suffered during the preseason.

Another matchup being anticipated on Sunday is the one between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans.

The game will feature the top two picks of the 2015 NFL Draft, namely Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks Jameis Winston (number one) of the Bucs and Marcus Mariota (number two) of the Titans.

Week 1 action will continue on Monday, Sept. 14, as the Philadelphia Eagles, who recently cut quarterback Tim Tebow, visit the Atlanta Falcons. Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers, who had an exodus of players during the offseason, will host the Minnesota Vikings on the same day.
