The no. 1 pick in the 2008 National Football League (NFL) Draft offensive tackle Jake Long, who is currently a free agent, continued his search for a new team and visited the Denver Broncos Thursday. 

Unfortunately for Long, the Broncos decided not to offer him a contract. 

"We're doing our homework on it and we'll continue to do that. At this point in time we're not going to make any moves," Broncos general manager John Elway said in a report by The Denver Post. 

Long was drafted by the Miami Dolphins where he played for five seasons earning four Pro-Bowl selections while with the team before leaving in 2013, turning down an extension deal to sign with the St. Louis Rams. 

The 30-year-old player inked a four-year deal with the Rams in March 2013; but he was really unable to play much for them as he suffered back-to-back season-ending anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in his stint with the team and was released last March. 

Long met with the New York Giants twice, with the second meeting reportedly happened Wednesday; but like with the Broncos, he was not signed to a deal. 

Before the meeting with the Giants, he also met with the Atlanta Falcons last Tuesday. 

The Broncos lost tackle Ryan Clady to an ACL injury that will likely sideline him for the entire 2015 season. 

Following the injury of Clady, Denver inked offensive tackle Ryan Harris to be a backup for rookie Ty Sambrailo and Chris Clark who are starting for the Broncos, according to the Denver Post. 

Long has never been a reserve in his entire NFL career and had the Broncos taken the risk and signed him, the Denver Post suggested that he could have competed for the starting position since Clady is expected to sit out the rest of the season.
