The Giants could so easily have been 2-0 coming into this game, but they have have blown two games from winning positions, leaving them winless coming into Week 3.

Week 1's 26-27 loss to the Dallas Cowboys will have been painful, especially after the Giants were up 13-6 at the half way point and still led with just seconds left on the clock.

But things went from bad to worse in Week 2 as the Giants snatched a loss from the jaws of victory once again against the Atlanta Falcons. In that game the Giants led 20-10 going into the final quarter, but allowed the Falcons to score 14 unanswered points resulting in another loss for the Giants 20-24.

A third defeat today for the Giants would be a first nail in the coffin for their season already, and things have barely gotten started yet. Coming back from an 0-3 start to the season isn't impossible, but it would certainly be a mountain to climb for this Giants team, seemingly lacking in confidence and conviction to get over the finish line in games.

Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins will feel that things are looking up and they will be hoping to build some momentum by claiming a win against their division rivals today.

A Week 1 10-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins had many wondering whether this Redskins team would be ready to compete for a Playoff spot this season or whether this would just be a transition year for them. It's still too early to say for certain, but last week's 24-10 win over the St Louis Rams will have given them a big dose of confidence that they can compete this year.

The Redskins will be happy with their defense after Week 2, as they shut down the Rams' offense completely in three of the four quarters of the game.

Conceding an average of just 13.5 points per game over the opening two weeks will be satisfying and if they can maintain that level of defense then it should give their offense every chance to get them over the winning margin each week. Of course there are much better offenses out there than the Dolphins and Rams, so it remains to be seen how well they do against some of the more powerful offenses in the league.

As for today's game, the Redskins will be very confident that they can get a second win of the season against New York. However, even though the Giants have seemed to blow hot and cold in each game so far this season, if they can put together a performance over all four quarters then they certainly have the potential to win this game too.
