At the Golden Joystick Awards, a new trailer for "Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom" was shown.

The same trailer was later uploaded to Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe's YouTube channel on Nov. 17. A little over a minute long, the trailer highlighted the game's level and character design, while giving excited players a glimpse of what to expect in both combat and the overworld map.

Not much else was revealed in the latest trailer, but who are curious to see what "Ni No Kun IIi: Revenant Kingdom" has to offer can watch thirteen minutes worth of dungeon gameplay on Kotaku's YouTube channel. The short gameplay video features upcoming in-game controls alongside glimpses at how the rebooted combat system will work in "Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom."

The gameplay video featured melee combat alongside how players could use Higgledies. An example of this is when the main character Evan knocks back an enemy with his blade. The enemy crashes into a group of Higgledies and is immediately injured by their abilities.

In the first game "Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch," combat focused on turn-based JRPG elements alongside players summoning familiars to fight for them. And while the game received good reviews for its touching story and stunning Ghibli-like graphics, a handful of fans complained that the combat system was far too clunky and repetitive and brought up that while the fighting mechanics were okay, it wasn't exactly exciting or fun to engage in combat. The developers, Level-5, heard their fan's pleas and redid the fighting mechanics for their latest game "Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom."

"Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom," adopted a real-time fighting system that did away with familiars and instead replaced them with creatures called Higgledies. Players would be able to use these creatures to aid them in combat (whenever enemies got close to the Higgledies) and each kind came with their own set of useful spells.
