'NightCry's' trailer and gameplay released

The impeccably creepy trailer for the upcoming horror adventure game "NightCry" has been released, showcasing the game's horrifying plot.

Announced during the 2014 Tokyo Game Show back in September, "NightCry" is the latest project of the team responsible for the success of the "Clock Tower" series led by creative head Hifumi Kouno. Additional creative inputs were provided by director Takashi Shimizu, who helmed the international hit Japanese horror movie "The Grudge."

Based on the trailer, "NightCry" is set in an eerie luxury liner where a monstrous creature with a giant pair of scissors comes out from his long slumber and runs around the halls killing everyone in sight. The entire cruise ship is tainted with blood all over, and the presence of the giant demon-like beast is evident everywhere.

Players will take on the role of a female cruise ship passenger who does everything in order to survive. The point-and-click game does not allow players to retaliate against the villain, which is why it is important for players to strategize properly in order to survive the deadly game of hide-and-seek.

Since the game only requires players to look for ways to be able to avoid the deadly "Scissorman," they have to rely on their skills in exploring and hiding to beat the monster. They can also look for items to help them in their quest of finding the best place to get out of the villain's way.

"NightCry" was initially planned to be released on PlayStation Vita as well as iOS and Android-running devices. However, game developer Nude Maker recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to gather $300,000 to be able to create a more detailed version that they can launch on the PC format.

The exact release date for "NightCry" is still unconfirmed at the moment, but it is expected to be launched this year.
