Nintendo amiibo news: Upcoming amiibo releases

Yarn Yoshi AmiiboNintendo Official

Nintendo just keeps offering interesting news for Wii U players with releases of new amiibo characters.

Just this week, Nintendo revealed a super-sized adorable Yoshi amiibo, the Mega Yarn Yoshi, which will be released later this year.

Mega Yarn Yoshi placed on the device's Gamepad will call forth a second Yoshi that will be used in the game.

This plus-sized amiibo has the same functions as the smaller-sized Yarn Yoshi for "Yoshi's Woolly World" and will be available by Nov. 15 in the United States and Nov. 27 in Europe.

Apart from Yoshi, there are several amiibo characters slated for release this year. It was already reported that the anticipated Mewtwo amiibo will join the November release when it arrives by Nov. 13 in the United States and Oct. 23 in Europe.

Walmart also introduced a new Wii U bundle that includes the 8-bit Mario amiibo. It was reported by Polygon  that the amiibo special comes in Mario Amiibo Modern Color available only at Walmart and Sam's Club.

The bundle, which sells for $300, includes the system, a "Super Mario Maker" download code, and the amiibo figurine.

Pre-orders have started on Aug. 25 and the bundle will be available on the same date as the game, which will be on Sept. 11.

Polygon noted that this deal is awesome since the Super Mario 8-bit amiibo is a difficult find.

Nintendo also revealed other amiibo characters and these ones come from "Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival."

IGN reported that Nintendo recently introduced a three-pack bundle that contains K.K. Slider, Reese, and Cyrus amiibo figurines, adding to the individually packed Lottie and Isabelle.

The other amiibo figurines from the simulation video game are Digby, Tom Nook, and Mabel.

The release date for "Amiibo Festival" has not been announced yet, but the Wii U game is slated for a holiday season release.

According to Nintendo America Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Scott Moffitt, Nintendo offers will surely please all players; these offers can be perfect as back-to-school presents or for those who plan to do an early Christmas gift shopping.
