An image showing the alleged controller of the Nintendo NX has been leaked. Dual Pixels obtained the photo from an undisclosed source.

It has one white button on both the left-hand side and the right-hand side, although the handheld device sports what looks like a touchscreen. It also has a connector plugged onto its top portion.

It is very similar to the unearthed patent document from 2015, which had two "operational sticks" and a touch panel. It is purportedly the component of the Nintendo NX that can be used as a standalone gaming device but can still be connected to the main console.

Destructoid confirmed that the leaked Nintendo NX image was not "significantly" altered or manipulated, although there appear to be irregularities in the lighting of the photo. That being said, the leak is advised to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Nintendo has kept quiet about the Nintendo NX ever since it was made official last year. The gaming company promised that more significant details about the console will be revealed early this year but Nintendo hasn't said a word.

The only thing confirmed is that it will not be a follow-up to the Wii U and it will be entirely new. Rumor has it that it will be compatible with other titles that the PS4 and Xbox One only supported.

Nintendo NX release date rumors claim that the device will be out by the end of this year with "The Legend of Zelda" as one of its launch titles.

It is also speculated that Activision's future releases, including the rumored "Call of Duty 2016" and "Destiny 2," will be launched with the console as well.

Nintendo has stayed away from talking about the Nintendo NX, although it is fervently hoped that it will break its silence soon.
