Nintendo was present during this year's E3, and while they did show off several of their main games such as "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," they did not showcase their new console, the NX. However, as stated in a report from Nintendo Everything, they did confirm that the unit is still going to release by March 2017 despite rumors of a delay.

In regards to why the NX was not on display, Shigeru Miyamoto, the designer behind the creation of classic franchises such as "The Legend of Zelda" and "Super Mario," stated that they were still working on an idea that has not yet been fully implemented on the NX and did not want to showcase an unfinished product.

Despite this, a report from the Daily Express states that the mere fact that the NX was not shown during E3 is an indication it will be delayed, particularly if it is not showcased later this year during a fall event.

In the interview with Nintendo Everything, it is hinted that this new feature of the NX may be VR technology based on what Miyamoto stated about the NX and Nintendo's approach to virtual reality, although this is no guarantee. Fans will recall that Sony has been pushing for VR with its new Playstation VR headset which is compatible with the PS4.

"I heard VR was a hot topic at E3, so I went to check it out," Miyamoto stated. "It was on display, but it wasn't what I expected. We're also researching VR, so we have the core technology. Long play sessions are an issue. We want to release something that can be played for long periods, carries value, and is affordable. We want parents to feel at ease."

Regardless of whether the NX comes with VR or augmented reality features, the report does indicate that Nintendo still plans on launching the console by March next year, with no indications of delaying it.
