Nintendo NX release date: could retro gaming cartridge-style console support Pokemon Go?

Nintendo has been keeping up with the success of Pokemon Go and take it as an advantage to release their much anticipated high- powered handheld console with detachable controllers, the Nintendo NX.

With the shares in the stock market growing up, it is only natural for the company to ride the wave and it is high time to introduce Nintendo NX to the market to rival game companies like Sony and Microsoft. In an article by Eurogamer, Nintendo NX could also be connected to a TV for a large screen gaming experience.

Nintendo decided to not go with the latest conventional features of gaming which is to incorporate VR technology. Reggie Fils-Aimé, COO of Nintendo USA, stated in the Electronic Entertainment Expo that Nintendo will wait for VR to mature and not sacrifice content over visuals.

"So here's Nintendo's take on any new technology. For us we want to make sure that technology is mainstream, we want to make sure that the technology represents strong value to the consumer ...It takes content creating companies like us to really make things that the consumer wants to experience, that makes the consumer want to jump into that particular technology. That's how we move it forward. We've been looking at the VR space since the days of the Virtual Boy. With us, we want to make sure that our next content is going to be mainstream, mass market approachable, and when VR is at that point, you can expect Nintendo to be there."

The company also decided to bring back retro- style of gaming that ceased on 2001 and introduce again the use of gaming cartridges in the form of Nintendo NX. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild included cartridge-based games in May that caused gamers to speculate that Nintendo NX could possibly the one that could hold the game.

Although it may not hold huge amount of data where they reportedly requires a 32GB cartridge, the resolution might be to use 1 to 2 terra byte of memory card, which is far faster than the usual consoles, according to an article by Forbes.

The article also reiterated the wise move of Nintendo to defy the trend as it proved from history that the best visual and specs game devices don't always win the gamers.

It is also reported that the design is much closer to Wii U. Smartphone games can also be played where the company will produce their own line of smartphone or mobile titles for NX. This feature could go in line with Pokemon Go which could lead to it having a camera and GPS too, since the game requires the two.

The rumor may yet to be confirmed but the possibillity to connect their new console to the most played game around the globe could be natural.

Nintendo NX is rumoured to be launched on September.
