Nintendo NX release date, specs news: 'Dragon Quest XI' coming to the platform; NX expected to arrive 2017

While the details about the newest Nintendo NX still remains to be scarce, some of the game titles supposedly for this upcoming console is still being revealed, adding more hype to the console's launch.

According to the Ecumenical News, the game "Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time" has been officially confirmed as one of the official Nintendo NX titles around. This news was revealed by the creator of the game series, Yuji Horii while in a round table discussion with Nintendo Dream for its October issue. Horii said that the game "Dragon Quest XI" is already undergoing development.

The same article points out that Horii said in 2015 that the game is going to have an NX version. However, at that time Square Enix made it a point that it was just being considered during that time. As such, with this confirmation, five games are now going to be available for the NX once it gets released.

Some of the other games confirmed for the Nintendo NX include another "Sonic" 2017 game along with "Just Dance 2017," "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," and "Dragon Quest X." However, the console itself is still a mystery, as Nintendo was pretty much silent about its development.

However, the Nintendo NX is expected to be a handheld device which comes with detachable controllers. This feature is backed up by the fact that some patent application files have been leaked online, but without any official confirmation, fans should just stay tuned for more details, and considering how Nintendo rolls, it will not be that long until they divulge more juicy information.

Nintendo NX is tentatively scheduled to launch on March 2017, and "Dragon Quest XI" will be released on May 27, 2017 for Japan. The North American release is yet to be announced, but the game will be available for the PS4, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo NX.
