Nissan has hinted at the platform that will be used by the production version of the IMx Concept,

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nissan's vice president for global marketing and sales Daniele Schillaci told Motor1 that the upcoming electric crossover will ride on a "bespoke platform."

When asked if the unique underpinnings of IMx will be based on the scalable electric vehicle (EV) architecture mentioned in Renault-Nissan's "Alliance 2022" plan, the executive refused to comment. Schillaci simply mentioned once again that the platform would be "bespoke."

The mention of a bespoke platform seemingly suggests that the production version of the IMx Concept won't be built on some version of the Nissan Leaf EV's platform, as previously thought.

The IMx Concept was first introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2017. The all-electric crossover concept is powered two electric motors that produce a combined output of 430 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. A high-capacity battery allows for more than 373 miles of zero-emissions driving.

The IMx Concept features a future version of Nissan's ProPILOT, which will be capable fully autonomous operation. When activated, the steering wheel is stowed inside the dashboard and all seats recline. The system takes over while the driver and passenger are able to relax during the commute.

At this week's Las Vegas trade show, Nissan also revealed that the IMx Concept features Brain-to-Vehicle (B2V) technology which allows the system to interpret signals coming from the driver's brain. This will allow the autonomous system to learn from the driver — translating to shorter reaction times and maximized driving experience.

Following their exhibit at CES 2018, the Japanese automaker will be heading to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week. Nissan has teased the arrival of a concept vehicle but has not confirmed if it will be a version of the IMx Concept or a completely different model.
