'No Man's Sky' release date: New engine programmer needed to help with game development?

After announcing during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo that "No Man's Sky" will be simultaneously released for the PlayStation 4 and PC, British independent game developer Hello Games turned mum about other information regarding the game, including its official release date.

Video game players who are interested to try out the exploratory adventure survival game are already pressing the game developer to at least come up with an announcement for the game's release date. But up to now, Hello Games can only promise that the game will come out "soon."

But while the gamers are already getting impatient, Hello Games' managing director Sean Murray is also getting exhausted of answering each inquiry regarding the game's official launch date. In his Twitter account, the game's co-creator posted a Vine video showing squeezable duck toys that give an exhausted sound when pressed. He enclosed it with a caption saying: "These ducks know how I feel."

This could mean that the game is still far from being released, which is understandable since it will reportedly come with 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 planets that have their own individual geographical features and unique biodiversity. One can just imagine the extent of work needed to be done in order to finish a game with that massive content. Its completely open universe demands a lot of time to work through each planet in great detail.

Hello Games also seems to be looking for more people to work on the game, particularly in shipping it on game consoles and PC. The game developer is specifically looking for a Senior Engine Programmer who has an extensive knowledge in C++, OpenGL and DirectX, and have already worked on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The qualified applicant will work with the small indie team in their Guilford, U.K. studio. The job posting was recently spotted on the Gamasutra job board.
