Hello Games officially revealed the delay in the release of the highly-anticipated "No Man's Sky" adventure survival game. But it does not sit well with the eager players.

Game director Sean Murray announced Saturday that the sci-fi adventure game will no longer come out in June 2016 as earlier reported. Instead, players should expect "No Man's Sky" on August 10 in Europe and August 12 in the UK.

According to Murray, the delay is caused by the game's studio's goals to polish the game based on their standards. Hello Games will reportedly use the extra time to make sure that the game will meet the players' expectations.

Murray also acknowledged that their decision to delay "No Man's Sky" will upset all those who are looking forward to play the game.

"We understand that this news is disappointing. Making this game is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, but we are so close now, and we're prepared to make the tough choices to get it right," the game director wrote in a blog posted on the PlayStation UK website.

But a number of players are more than disappointed based on their reactions. In a Twitter post after the delay announcement, Murray revealed that he already received a lot of death threats from angry fans because the game was pushed back for another couple of months.

Fans were also angry at Kotaku writer Jason Schreier who first leaked the report about the game's delay. According to the writer, "Last Wednesday, I reported that No Man's Sky had been delayed. For two days, up until the game's developers confirmed the news, I received a stream of nasty messages, angry tweets, and, as has become a standard part of gaming culture, threats against me and my family."

Both Murray and Schreier said that they have already taken precautionary measures to ensure their safety.
