'No Man's Sky' rumor: Release date may be pushed back due to technical issues

As previously reported, Hello Games' "No Man's Sky" is scheduled to release on the PS4 and PC by June 2016, as evident in its recently released teaser trailer for the game. However, according to an episode of Podquisition (via PlayStation Lifestyle) with Destructoid's Laura Kate Dale, this release date may be pushed back.

Dale explains that her sources state Hello Games was meant to showcase "No Man's Sky" via a hands-off demo at a UK event called Game City. However, the developers pulled out because of technical issues that may compromise the game's presentation in public.

She also explains that during the E3 presentation, Hello Games was not using a real PS4 to showcase the demo. Instead, the game was running on a PC but played with a PS4 dual shock controller. This decision may have been done to showcase the game at its highest possible graphical settings, which might only be achievable on a PC.

The reason for this is reportedly due to issues getting the game to run smoothly on the PS4. However, this should not be a cause for alarm just yet since most games experience compatibility issues when moving from one platform to the other. It is likely that these compatibility problems will be resolved by the time the game releases on both PC and PS4.

However, the report also cites that the game is experiencing optimization issues on the PC. It is likely that the game is chugging along at a slow, laggy frame rate at its highest possible graphic setting, although this is also likely to be fixed by the time of release in 2016.

Hello Games has yet to confirm if these issues are true and if they are significant enough to delay the game even further. Until any official announcement, "No Man's Sky" should still be expected to release by June 2016.
