The resurgence of the Nokia brand in the smartphone industry, thanks to HMD Global, has given users more options in choosing the best handset that suits their needs. As the new year enters, the company is set to unveil new Nokia smartphones, including the 2018 edition of the mid-range Nokia 6 device. There are no official details regarding its features available at this time, although a recent TENAA listing on the new Nokia 6 sheds light on what to expect in terms of performance.

According to the latest reports, the Nokia 6 2018 will retain the majority of the features of its predecessor. For one, the upcoming smartphone will sport a regular 16:9 full view HD display, as well as 3,000mAh battery. However, the latest version will introduce a performance boost via Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 processor. The built-in chip used by the current Nokia 6 version has been criticized by the users, mainly due to its incapacity to support high-quality camera features and full view HD display. To note, the Snapdragon 630 is more powerful than the Snapdragon 435 from the 2017 Nokia 6 units. The Nokia 6 2018 edition is also expected to receive a boost in RAM capacity to 4GB.

Meanwhile, the latest TENAA listing for the 2018 Nokia 6 suggests that there could be two variants of the smartphone model coming this year. This is because a similar TENAA listing was spotted two weeks ago, and while the descriptions of the devices from each listing are somewhat identical, they are different in a few aspects. The most recent one with the same model number TA-1054 is shown to have 18:9 display ratio, compared to the earlier one with standard 16:9 display.

Aside from the differences in screen-to-body ratio, the two Nokia 6 2018 variants will receive different storage options. The regular variant is expected to get 32GB storage, while the top-end model will have 64GB.

The release date of Nokia 6 2018 is not yet certain, although it is likely that HMD Global will unveil its latest lineup of mid-range smartphones during the mid-year.
