A new lineup of Nokia smartphone is expected to be introduced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona on Feb. 26. According to the rumors, one of the upcoming handsets from HMD Global will be a powerful new version of the current Nokia 8 model. Dubbed as the Nokia 8 Pro, the recent leaks suggest that it will be among the first few mobile devices to boast Qualcomm's latest high-end chipset, the Snapdragon 845. Also, the Nokia 8 Pro is tipped to sport five rear camera lenses, a feat that no other premium smartphone has ever achieved.

The specs details of the Nokia 8 Pro was leaked earlier this week, revealing the cutting-edge design and technology of the 2018 flagship. It appears that HMD Global added the word "Pro" to its moniker to indicate that it will be more than a typical high-end smartphone. It is likely that the Nokia 8 Pro is designed for professional use, particularly for photographers due to its penta-lens rear camera module. This camera technology is said to be brought by the Carl Zeiss company, which has confirmed its continuing partnership with HMD Global last year. The leaks also show that Nokia 8 Pro will make use of a rotating lens camera zoom feature.

It was noted that the five rear camera lenses of the Nokia 8 Pro are not expected to work all together to capture a single photo. It appears that each of these lenses has its respective focal length and aperture, thus only one of them will work depending on the conditions. For example, one of the lenses could be specialized in wide-angle photography, while the other is perfect for taking pictures in a low-light environment.

Another possible highlight of the Nokia 8 Pro is the Snapdragon 845 CPU, which boasts top-end AI capabilities, improved power efficiency and performance compared to the previous Snapdragon 835 chip. The said mobile chip is manufactured based on 10 nm process.

It was previously reported that HMD Global would launch the Nokia 10 this year, which is expected to be the most powerful smartphone so far from the Finnish tech firm. However, it appears that the Nokia 8 Pro will be the one to see the light of day instead. Aside from the Nokia 8 Pro, the company is set to unveil the mid-range and entry-level smartphones at the MWC 2018 next week, including the Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 1 and Nokia 4.
