With a host of increasingly advancing smartphone flagships being released all over the globe, the pressure is building for Nokia's upcoming Nokia 9 flagship phone to deliver technologies that would outsmart its competitors. The future phone is likely to face affordable competitors like the OnePlus 5T and Xiaomi Mi 7 when it gets released in the market.

When the Nokia 9 is released, it is expected to have a 5.5-inch OLED panel and be powered with the new Snapdragon 845 processor. It will arrive with different combinations of RAM and internal storage, ranging from 6 GB to 8 GB RAM, and 64 GB to 128 GB internal memory.

For its camera, the Nokia 9 will have a dual lens 22-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front-facing sensor. The phone will have a decent battery capacity of 3,800 mAh, and will have the latest version of Android Oreo as its operating system.

The Nokia 9 will be including the most modern pieces of mobile technology once it arrives next year. However, its price tag of around $700 suggests that it does not quite belong to the line of premium smartphone flagships like the Samsung Galaxy, Apple's iPhone, or Google's Pixel.

It will be competing against OnePlus 5T, which is reported to be priced at around $600; and the next release of the Chinese Juggernaut Xiaomi, the Mi 7, which is expected to be around the same price range.

Although Nokia was one of the biggest names during the budding years of the mobile phone technology, the brand has struggled in recent years, producing less than stellar sales numbers and bouncing around to multiple owners.

HMD Global, the company intent on reviving the Nokia brand and bringing it back to the top tier of the mobile phone market, has released a number of impressive handsets recently, with its flagship Nokia 8 being released earlier this year.
