Rumors about HMD Global's next flagship phone, Nokia 9, has begun to surface these past few weeks. While the tech company that took over the Nokia label has no official word yet regarding the Nokia 8 follow-up, leaked renders allegedly belonging to Nokia 9 reveal the features to be expected from the rumored device.

According to the latest reports, the latest leaked image of Nokia 9 captured the smartphone's back panel. It was revealed that the premium smartphone will have an all-glass back design, which is a breath of fresh air from the previous iteration of the Nokia flagship. Although, it can be recalled that the recently-unveiled Nokia 7 also sported a glass back panel.

Another noticeable feature of Nokia 9's rear portion is the dual camera setup. The dual lens camera to be featured in Nokia 9 will be different from its predecessor. To note, the Nokia 8 dual camera setup includes two 13-megapixel sensors, while the latest rumors for the Nokia 9 suggest that the handset will have dual ZEISS camera lens instead.

The new Nokia 9 leaked render also shows a fingerprint sensor located at the back of the device. The fingerprint reader is positioned just below the dual lens camera. With this, the LED flash is transferred to the right side of the camera. The latest leak matches the alleged Nokia 9 renders that surfaced online last week, showing the same fingerprint scanner at the back.

Previous Nokia 9 leaks show the rear panel of the device including a USB Type-C port. For now, there are speculations that the new USB port will serve as a permanent replacement for the 3.5mm headphone jack. However, the leaked renders so far did not reveal the top and bottom sides of the smartphone, thus there is a possibility that the traditional audio jack is still in there.

Other rumors suggested that the Nokia 9 will sport an edge-to-edge display with the curved edge feature wrapped around. The device will have a taller 18:9 aspect ratio, similar with the recent flagship smartphones launched this year. Users can also expect much slimmer bezels for a wider viewing experience. The Nokia 9 could be released with either 6GB or 8GB RAM capacity, plus 128GB internal storage.

The release date of Nokia 9 is not yet confirmed, although it is likely that HMD Global will unbox their next flagship device at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in early 2018.
