The top two players in the world, number one Novak Djokovic and number two Roger Federer, will be playing against each other Sunday at the Arthur Ashe Stadium to determine who will be the champion of the 2015 U.S. Open. 

Djokovic advanced to the final with a dominant win over defending champion Marin Cilic who played in the semifinal with an ankle injury suffered in an earlier round, according to BBC Sport. 

Croatia's Cilic, ranked ninth in the world, was unable to overcome Djokovic who finished the match 6–0 6–1 6–2 in just 85 minutes. 

Following the win, Djokovic acknowledged Cilic's injury saying, according to BBC Sport, "Marin was carrying an injury, he was courageous to come out and finish the match, so applause to him."

The 28-year-old tennis player added he had good focus and intensity during the match and was also able to execute his game plan. 

Djokovic's appearance in the final this Sunday at the U.S. Open will be the fourth time this year that he made it to the championship game of a major tournament. 

The Serb won in the Australian Open and Wimbledon but was unable to do so in the French Open as he was defeated by world number five Stan Wawrinka in the final. 

Reaching the final of all four Grand Slam tournaments is a first in Djokovic's career, according to BBC Sport and he called it an achievement which he is proud of. 

Meanwhile, Federer defeated Wawrinka in his semifinal round to set up the match against Djokovic. 

The second best player in the world beat his countryman 6–4 6–3 6–1 in 92 minutes.

Following the victory, Federer said he was uncertain if he was going to play aggressively against Wawrinka who presented a different challenge for him in the tournament.

But the semifinal win gave him confidence that he can play in the same level heading to the U.S. Open final facing Djokovic. 

The 34-year-old Swiss also spoke about the matchup against Djokovic saying, according to BBC Sport, "He's the best mover on the hard courts, he's tough mentally, but I like that challenge and I'll be ready for it."
