Nvidia announced its latest GPUs to the world on May 6, 2016: the GTX 1080 and the GTX 1070. These two cards' specification bring excitement to a lot of PC users, which poses a challenge for their competitor, AMD, to start releasing something that would compete against them.

These GPUs have already been available on the market for a while now, and in the GeForce website, both the 1080 and 1070 are already out-of-stock. This was expected, given the current specs and popularity of these cards. These cards are $600 and $380 respectively, which make them cost much more than the GTX 980 and 970. Both of these cards use the Pascal GPU microarchitecture by Nvidia, according to Ars Technica.

The GTX 1080 boasts the most superior graphics card made specifically for games today, possessing unparalleled performance, gaming experience and more. This GPU is claimed to be thrice quieter and 30 percent cooler than its predecessors, with 2560 CUDA cores and 20 SM units. Its 8GB GDDR5X has a connection to its 256-bit memory interface. Simply put, the GTX 1080 offers a huge improvement in terms of bandwidth standards compared to the GDDR5. Also, it runs at a rate of 10Gbps, giving it 43 percent more bandwidth compared to the GTX 980.

The GTX 1070, however, despite its lower price, is claimed to beat the GeForce GTX Titan X in terms of speed. It has, however, lesser features compared to its 1080 counterpart, but its features are decent enough. These include preemption, bandwidth reduction and memory compression. Also, it has 256-bit memory bus width as well as 64 Render Output units and a 7.2 billion transistor count, same as the 1080, according to Yibada.

These GPUs also come with a Founders Edition, which increases their price to $700 and $450. Aside from an altered design, these cards allow more solid overclocks due to their upgraded five-phase power supply, as well as an optimized PCB to ensure low impedance.
