NVIDIA has been able to dominate the graphics card market with the launch of the NVIDIA Titan X and the cheaper but still capable GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti cards. Now, the GTX 1080 Ti is speculated to be released at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017, and it is said that the card will be very similar in power to the Titan X but will be offered at a lower price.

As per a report from Hot Hardware, the Titan X and the GTX 1080 Ti are nearly identical. Like the Titan X, the GTX 1080 Ti will sport 16nm process and a 12 GB GDDR5X memory. Its memory bandwidth is at an identical 480 Gbps, and its memory speed clocked in at 10 Gbps.

The main difference will be in terms of total clock speed and CUDA cores. The Titan X sports 3584 CUDA cores while the GTX 1080 Ti will have 3328. Clock speed will be based at 1.5 GHz and can be boosted up to 1.6 GHz. Total graphical horsepower is rated at 10.8 teraflops.

Game N Guide points out that the information comes from leaks in China, which is where the parts of the new video card have been manufactured. However, given that NVIDIA has yet to acknowledge the details and specs of the GTX 1080 Ti the information should be taken with a grain of salt.

If the information proves true, then the GTX 1080 Ti will be nearly identical in power to the Vega 10 video cards being developed by AMD, NVIDIA's main rival in the market. AMD is also set to launch their Vega 10 cards during CES 2017, and this will be one of the first CES events where computer products are highlighted.

Most CES events focus on general consumer electronics, hence the name of the event, and normally, computer products are not showcased. NVIDIA and AMD are likely going to alter this as they are rumored to launch both of their high-end GPU cards early in the year.
