Nvidia GeForce GTX 2080 specs, price rumors: GPU could cost as high as $1,499

Nvidia's current lineup of GTX GeForce graphics cards is among the most expensive ones that the gamers can find in the market today. Particularly, the company's gaming-focused GTX 10 series offer high-quality visual experience and top-notch performance, although the users must shed a hefty amount of money to enjoy them. Unfortunately, the upcoming successor to the GeForce GTX 10 series is reportedly more pricey, with the GTX 2080 CPU costing as much as $1,499.

According to the latest reports, Nvidia could move past the $1,500-limit for its gaming graphics card with the arrival of the new GeForce GTX 20 series this year. To note, the company's most expensive graphics processing unit (GPU) in the GTX 10 series, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, currently costs around $1,200 on Amazon. With the expected release of the GTX 2080 later this year, things will be shaken up a bit as the graphics card could have a stunning starting price of $1,499.

If there is one thing that is barring most gamers from choosing an Nvidia GeForce graphics card, that would be its price tag. With the GTX 2080 expected to be more expensive than the previous gaming GPUs, one could only hope that the price increase equates to improved performance. It is believed that the upcoming GeForce GTX 2080 will boast around 30 to 50 percent enhanced performance than the GeForce GTX 1080 in SLI. Moreover, the 2018 graphics card is expected to come with lower power consumption and more stable rendering at higher resolutions. The GeForce GTX 2080 could also feature graphics double data rate 6 (GDDR6) memory, which is far more superior than the GDDR5X and GDDR5 in today's graphics cards.

In other news, there is a possibility that Nvidia will finally unveil the GeForce GTX 2080 graphics card at the GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2018 to be held in April. The card is said to be manufactured based on the latest 12-nanometer Ampere architecture. It appears that Nvidia is giving more favor to the gaming community by introducing the Ampere graphics cards first over Volta, which is focused on AI tasks and high-performance computing (HPC).
