NVIDIA GTX 1050 specs, release date: Entry-level card's specs leaked

Aside from the original GeForce GTX 1060, Nvidia has already released a version with 3GB of VRAM. However, another entry-level GTX 10 will reportedly enter the market, as specs of the GTX 1050 have been leaked.NVIDIA

Another addition to the new NVIDIA GTX family is expected as specs of the upcoming GTX 1050 have been leaked online.

In the specs listed on Benchlife, the new GTX 1050 card is seemingly an improved version of the previous GTX 950 GPU, and the benchmark site has even posted a comparison between the two. While the new 1050 offers the same number of CUDA cores and similar boost features, the new Pascal architecture for the GTX 10 series is also extended in the 1050 GPU. This means that unlike the 1024 MHz base and 1188 MHz boost speeds for the previous 950 graphics cards, the upcoming GTX 1050 offers a massive 1316 MHz base clock, and the ability to boost to 1380 MHz.

Meanwhile, since the upcoming card is coming out as part of the new Pascal architecture, the GTX 1050 is said to offer at least 1080p performance for displays.

In addition, the new GTX 1050 is the smallest chipset offered by NVIDIA yet, as the architecture has been codenamed as the GP107-400. This means that although the new card will replace the GTX 1060 as the entry-level GPU for the GTX 10 family, the GP107 assembly is the new one in the series. The GTX 10 has been introduced with the GP102 for Titan X; GP104 for GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 GPUs; and GP106 for GTX 1060.

As an entry-level card, it is expected that the GTX 1050 will be offered in 2GB and 4GB VRAM variants.

NVIDIA has yet to officially announce the new card, much less set a specific release date. However, speculations suggest that the new GTX 1050 will have a late 2016 release, possibly launching in October at the earliest. As a basic GPU lineup, it is also expected for the GTX 1050 to have at least a $150 price tag.
