The second-generation of NVIDIA's SHIELD Tablet might be launched sometime in March.

Rumors about the possible release of the high-powered SHIELD Tablet started to circulate earlier this week, saying that the highly awaited device will come out "within a couple of months."

Reports say that the product will be unveiled at the GPU Technology Conference that will be conducted on March 17, and that the SHIELD Tablet will be equipped with the next-generation mobile chipset from NVIDIA called the Tegra X1, which was revealed during the CES 2015 earlier this year.

The Tegra X1 will reportedly come with a highly improved performance compared to the chip last year. NVIDIA also claimed that it will have advanced graphics that would be ideal when used to improve one's gaming experience.

The first edition of SHIELD Portable was released to the public in July 2013, while the fan-favorite SHIELD Tablet was rolled out in July 2014.

The SHIELD Tablet release is not the only event that NVIDIA is expected to reveal in the coming days. According to Games Spot, the chip manufacturer gave out invitations for a press event dubbed as "Made to Game" as part of the Game Developers Conference that will be held in San Francisco on March 3. The report mentioned that the company's president and chief executive officer Jen-Hsun Huang will make a big announcement in the scheduled hour-long presentation.

A line from the invitation sent by NVIDIA to media says, "More than 5 years in the making, what I want to share with you will redefine the future of gaming."

The invite also says that the upcoming presentation will become a very extraordinary event. However, the company did not provide further details about what's in store for the attendees. Still, everyone is expecting to receive major news from the company.
