Nvidia unveils two new Star Wars-themed Titan Xp GPUs
Nvidia has unveiled two versions of Star Wars-themed graphics cards. The Collector's Edition Nvidia Titan Xp video cards feature powerful specs encased in Star Wars-themed bodies complete with logos and LED lighting designed to look like lightsabers.
The Collector's Edition graphical processing units (GPUs) come in two variants, a Galactic Empire version designed after the franchise's antagonistic party, and a Jedi Order version themed after the saga's powerful warrior peacekeepers.
The Galactic Empire version features a deep red LED lighting, while its Jedi Order counterpart has a classic green glow. Each edition features the logo of its respective factions on the fan of the GPU. The case of the video cards are also sculpted along the edge to resemble the profile of a lightsaber.
The Jedi Order GPU sports a die cast aluminum cover which has been subjected to a corrosive salt spray. The resulting design is reminiscent of the battle-worn equipment used by the Rebel Alliance in the "Star Wars" films.
On the other hand, the Galactic Empire edition has a cleaner black finish with sleek lines and smooth surfaces. This, too, was made to emulate the high-end and orderly design used by the evil empire in the movies.
Both cards include a number of windowed areas on their body to allow for some fantastic LED lighting. The lighting effects would definitely look good installed in modded PC cases.
Aesthetics aside, the new cards are similar to the Titan Xp, which sports 3,840 CUDA cores and runs at 1.6 Ghz speed. They have 12 GB of GDDR5X memory that run at 11.4 Gbps.
The Collector's Edition Nvidia Titan Xp GPUs are set to be released on Nov. 17, which is the same date that the new "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" will be released.
Nvidia is now taking pre-orders for the GPUs, but the orders are limited to one of each variant. The video cards will cost $1,200 each.
