The New York Yankees are doing fine this season with a 38-33 record despite losing their last three games but the performance of starting pitcher CC Sabathia is hurting the club.

Sabathia already played in 15 games this season currently holding a 3-7 record with a terrible 5.65 ERA.

Despite the declining production he is contributing to the club, Yankees manager Joe Girardi would not be removing him from the starting rotation as reported by ESPN.

"You are asking me a question, I just walked in here from two minutes ago, we played the game. He is a starter for us. That's what he is and that's what we are paying him to do and that is what he is going to do," Girardi said after they lost the second game of their three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies 11-6 Tuesday.

The 35-year-old allowed six runs on eight hits pitching in 4 2/3 innings in their loss to the Phillies.

"It comes down to mistakes. It comes down to there has to be consistency in pitches and, right now, he is missing location," Girardi stated. "He'll keep working at it. We'll keep working at it. He'll still compete. We need him to do his job."

In ESPN's report, the Yankees currently have six starters but no one has done an exceptional job pitching in their past few games.

Sabathia who is owed $25 million by the club next season is having no worries if he gets removed from the rotation saying, "That is not up to me."

As of Wednesday morning, the Yankees front office and Girardi have made no decisions yet regarding Sabathia according to ESPN.

In other Yankees news, second baseman Stephen Drew will be placed on the paternity list, ESPN reported.

The 32-year-old and his wife are expecting a baby and he may miss one to three days of work while on the list.

Drew is hitting .188 and has 11 home runs also having 24 RBIs this season.
