President Barack Obama and the First Family have a new puppy called "Sunny," according to a released from the White House blog page this week.

The young pup was born in Michigan in June 2012, and just recently arrived at the White House to meet his new family and become one of the most famous pets on the planet.

Like the First Family's other dog, Bo, Sunny is a Portuguese Water Dog – chosen probably as it should not cause problems for the family with allergies.

According to The White House blog, "Sunny is the perfect little sister for Bo – full of energy and very affectionate – and the First Family picked her name because it fit her cheerful personality."

The blog added, "In the past, Bo has been eager to help the First Family with their official duties, from visiting Walter Reed and the Children's National Medical Center, to inspecting the Holiday decorations at the White House, to greeting guests at the White House on tours and during the Easter Egg Roll, but in October, the First Lady told reporters that she hosted a "doggie play date" because "Bo doesn't have enough dog interaction." So now, in addition to helping with those official duties, Bo takes on the important role of big brother!"

Sunny is apparently expected to "follow in Bo's footsteps and keep the President company in the Oval Office, go for walks with the First Family after their 6:30 family dinner and even jump up on the First Lady's lap from time to time!"

Obamas are making a donation to the Washington Humane Society in honor of Sunny.
