Oculus Rift games list 2016: 5 of the best titles to be played on VR headset

Chronos, one of the most popular titles for the Oculus RiftGunfire Games

The Oculus Rift officially launched this past March 28 and with it came several games and there are several more that are to be released before the end of 2016. As with most gaming consoles and peripherals, there are going to be several stellar titles while others are shovelware that are only cashing in on what is popular. Here is a list of the most recommended Oculus Rift-ready video games.

1. "Adr1ft" is available on Steam, and as stated by a report from PC Advisor, it is very similar in presentation and mechanics to the movie "Gravity," as players are caught in a storm of space debris and must manage to make their way through and find safety.

2. "EVE: Valkyrie" is stated to be the most popular game on the Oculus Rift to date, most likely due to its high-quality graphics and gameplay and the fact that it is bundled with the Oculus Rift. The game is a space shooter where the player is in the cockpit of a spacecraft and must battle through several spaceship dog-fighting scenarios.

3. "Chronos" is described as an action-adventure game in the same vein as "The Legend of Zelda," but as stated in a report from Games Radar, the game has a simple but intriguing catch: Each time players fail they are taken back out of the dungeon and wait a full year before the dungeon reopens, allowing the player to gradually age as they finish the game.

4. "Lucky's Tale" appears to be as basic as it can get in regards to the gameplay and presentation of a 3D platform game akin to "Super Mario 64" or "Super Mario 3D World." However, as Games Radar points out, the addition of VR technology may allow the game to present itself with a much deeper level of gameplay immersion.

5. "The Climb" currently uses gamepad controllers instead of the Oculus Touch which dampens the immersion a little bit, but as stated in a report from GizMag, it is one of the best games to launch on the Oculus Rift. Immersion may improve when developer Cryptek implements Oculus Touch controls once the Touch launches later this year.
