The fantasy-adventure video game remake "Okami HD" will be released later this month. To celebrate its launch, the game's protagonist Amaterasu could be included on the roster of DOTA2 couriers.

A model of Amaterasu is already in the Steam Workshop. Capcom even released a video for the character's in-game animations.

In the file details of the Steam Workshop page, under the question "Would you like to see this item officially accepted and supported in Dota 2?" there are buttons that DOTA2 players can use to vote. Should Amaterasu get enough user votes, the character will be officially included as a courier in Valve's popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA).

So far, the poll is off to a good start, which means it is highly likely that Amaterasu will be accepted. However, comments on the Workshop page are mixed. Some say that adding Amaterasu would further ruin the lore of DOTA2. Others imply that DOTA2 merely tries to integrate a lore that makes sense, although lore is not required primarily in the nature of MOBA gameplay.

However, Amaterasu is not the first third-party character requested to be added in DOTA2. Adult Swim Games has already submitted a model of Mr. Meeseeks, the blue-skinned granter of wishes that gained popularity because of the animated show "Rick and Morty." Coffee Stain Studios has also submitted a courier that is modeled after the goat in the niche video game "Goat Simulator."

Master Chocobo from "Final Fantasy Type-o HD" got inducted into DOTA2 as a mythical courier back in 2015.

In any case, DOTA2 courier or not, fans of the fantasy adventure will still get "Okami HD" on Dec. 12.

"Okami HD" is a direct remake of the classic game for the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. It offers a ton of improvements including support for a 4K resolution. It also gives players the option to experience the game in the classic 4:3 aspect ratio.
