The dynamic duo is back for the Oklahoma City Thunder as forward Kevin Durant and point guard Russell Westbrook led their team to a 112-106 victory over the improved San Anotnio Spurs at home last Wednesday.

Westbrook was the true leader exploding for 33 points, while also tallying two rebounds, an impressive 10 assists, and two steals in 37 minutes of action.

But the return of Durant was one of the most anticipated moments in the game and the 2014 Most Valuable Player (MVP) did not disappoint.

Despite his 6-of-19 shooting from the field against San Antonio, Durant still came up with 22 points and six rebounds playing 35 minutes for Oklahoma City. 

Both Westbrook and Durant missed a number of games in the past two seasons dealing with injuries. 

Last season, the Thunder even failed to make it to the playoffs due to Durant being limited to 27 regular season games because of a foot injury suffered before the 2014-15 season which required a number of surgeries to repair. 

The win was also a first for Billy Donovan as a head coach in the National Basketball Association (NBA). 

Donovan became Oklahoma City's head coach last April replacing former Coach of the Year Scott Brooks. 

In a report by the Associated Press, Donovan complimented the way his team played down the stretch in a close game to seal the win against a high-profile team like San Antonio. 

"I was very pleased that our guys just kept their composure. They kept battling, they kept fighting, and I think everyone knew it was going to be a game that was going to come down that way," Donovan stated. 

After starting the season at home, the Thunder will hit the road for their second game taking on the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center. 

The Magic were edged by the Washington Wizards 88-87 in their season opener and are aiming to bounce back.
